Pitt Student Art Competition


The University Stores is excited to announce the 2024 Pitt Student Art Competition!

The stores have eliminated all single-use plastic bags per City of Pittsburgh legislation and are excited to continue this tradition in support of more sustainable options like reusable bags.

Submit your design for the chance to have YOUR design as the Official University Stores Tote Bag and to win a $100 gift card!

We are accepting submissions from April 1, 2024 through April 15, 2024 and the winner will be announced on Earth Day - April 22, 2024.

  • Submit by April 15, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. EST
  • Design dimensions must be 8" H x 5" W
  • Must have a resolution of 300 PPI
  • Must submit a vector file (.SVG, .PNG or .AI with no background)

Rules and Regulations

  1. Students can complete artwork in any 2D medium (pencil, marker, paint) using the theme ‘Blue, Gold, and Green: Sustainability at Pitt’ which can then be converted to a vector file image.
    1. Students are encouraged to showcase any element of sustainability they see on campus, or wish to see on campus.
    2. Entries to be submitted as a vector file
    3. Entries will be accepted between April 1 – April 15, 2024.
    4. Winner to be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2024.
  2. Students can submit up to three (3) entries per person.
  3. Artwork should be scaled to 8 inches H x 5 inches W
    1. Winner’s artwork may be resized as needed at the discretion of the University Stores Group.
  4. Artwork will be utilized at the discretion of the University Stores.
  5. Winner will be selected by the University Stores and featured on imprinted bags and potential future products.
    1. Artwork required to be released by student artist for University use.
  6. Students are permitted to use any and all trademarked Pitt marks in their contest submission, but have no other rights in using any trademarked Pitt marks outside of the contest.


Terms of Submission

By submitting, I agree that the University of Pittsburgh – Of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education (“University”) can use my submission in the creation, marketing, and distribution of items associated with the University and its mission.

I also agree to and hereby assign to the University any and all intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights and trademarks, I may have in the submission, and any rights retained by me are assigned to, and vest in, the University. Accordingly, I understand that I am granting the University and its affiliates the sole right to display, reproduce, publish, create derivative works, seek copyright or trademark protection, and otherwise use my submission, in any medium existing now or in the future. The University will be the exclusive owner of all rights, including copyright, in my submission.

I hereby irrevocably transfer to the University all of my right, title, and interest in my submission, including copyrights and other intellectual property rights, in perpetuity. I acknowledge and agree that I have no right to review or approve my submission before it is used by the University and that the University has no liability to me for any editing or alteration of my submission or for any distortion or other effects resulting from the University’s editing, alteration, or use of my submission. Any credit or other acknowledgment of me, if any, shall be determined by the University in the University’s sole discretion. The University has no obligation to create or use my submission or to exercise any rights given by this Agreement.
